The smaller and narrower peck basket was commonly known as a "peach basket". So...8 quarts make a peck, 4 pecks make a bushel. Dry measure (that is volume of solids.
So half a peach basket is about 2 pecks (4 quarts). But I usually just cut uo as many as will fit into my pot & add seasonings until it tastes right.
See also
http://www.onlineconversion.com/volume.htm for additional volume conversions.GKHesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09071802414160013523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580428018511467982.post-51186397887979152742010-09-13T15:22:57.259-06:002010-09-13T15:22:57.259-06:00Gene, darling, how big is your peach basket? I searched for some kind of standard measure, but admit defeat with this:
http://www.todaymarket.com/tmp_refe.htm

I have a tree full of slightly wormy apples that could be well used (and the zoological contribution well masked) as apple butter. This recipe looks easier than minding a bubbling pot, so please advise!Judithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10246286726623570467noreply@blogger.com
